On the premises of Troisdorf Industrial Park research will be done into industrial applications of 5G campus networks as of February 2021. To this end, the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) supports a consortium consisting of 7 partners.

Two of the partners are companies that have a site in the Troisdorf Industrial Park: ZWi Technologies GmbH and Kuraray Europe GmbH are going to test the 5G technology in two use cases. Troiline GmbH, a subsidiary of the municipal utility Stadtwerke Troisdorf, is going to set up and operate the 5G campus network, thus enabling the research.
